About

Le-Meilleur-Vin-de-Bordeaux is a company that started out as a wine merchant in French Quebec in Canada. The founder was Henri Le Clerc, who could trace his ancestry back several hundred years to the Bordeaux region of France. Le Clerc was extremely successful as a wine merchant, but after he died his daughter Marie, who took over the company, had wider ambitions and started branching out into different areas. She had been trained as a young woman as a seamstress, and had also spent many years learning the arts of embroidery and quilting. And so she got into the import and export of fabrics, garments, quilts and embroidered items, and then she wrote a guidebook of the place where you could get instruction in such arts if you wanted them. And that led ultimately to her company being the leading commentator on matters of sewing, embroidering and quilting. Today Le-Meilleur-Vin-de-Bordeaux is a company whose main emphasis is on the areas that Henri Le Clerc’s daughter Marie was interested in, but it still sells wine too, all over North America. And so the company has never bothered to change its name.
